It's very good, and worth figuring out if you're a series newcomer.

Gym addict And rider I recommend it. I’m a first timer too! The weapon mods are tree style so it’s easy to pick up on. The fighting is intense but fun, if you’re okay with that you’ll love it. I recommend practicing in training area with diff weapons til you find which ones you like best 👍🏼

Monsters aren't hard but the whole setup of getting quest and joining a player is bad. I rented it and played for 8 hours and returned it the same day.

Thank you. I recently bought a PS4 and was thinking of getting this game.

I'll be completely honest with you, I've been playing for almost 10 years and I loved every release (I haven't played spin-offs tho) When I bought this game, I was expecting it to be extremely easy to the point of being boring because. 1.The cat looks OP (It heals 70% of your health every 3 minutes) 2.The monsters don't hit hard enough (I'm used to being instakilled in older releases) 3.It didn't use to sell well on PlayStation because it was too hard/unfair so I thought that they made it easy so people doesn't quit after the first hour But as you progress in the game things get a bit harder, and I have to say that after playing Monster Hunter for a decade, it may feel easy FOR ME so. It is a pretty good game in my opinion. But if you want the full Monster Hunter experience, buy Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, THAT IS THE BEST GAME I'VE PLAYED IN MY LIFE! And is the most complete Monster Hunter game too

Beware..before you buy..I wish I had known. Missions and Quests are timed..yes every main quest has a time limit..loot has a time limit so if you go down and cannot get back in time you just lost your rewards..That timer is but a few seconds. As a long time gamer the one thing I despise in any game is time limits. Game is back in the box and in the cabinet..I really despise time limits. Cheers!

I think you did a wonderfull Job explaining mhworld. It's a game that once you're trying to understand it it keeps getting better. Tip: for people Who are knew to the series but did still buy the game. Don't throw the game aside as soon as it looks to complicated or slow. Because you don't know what you're gonna miss. Give it time and you'll figure things out.

I shouldn't have bought. The game feels like work, not play, because there's too much information to take in as far as all the different types of quests, the items, controls, classes, etc. I like a game I can casually pick up and have fun with. This is NOT that kind of game, so let me save some of you out there some money if you're a casual gamer like me. DON'T BUY.

How in depth is the character creation/customisation?
camofan123 7 days ago
Myles Trevor kinda simple, though there's a lot of different things you can do, each armor piece has their own skills which will boost attributes of your character, like say.Wearing the head part of Legiana armour will give you a chance of having damage be reduced if you get hit. Some skills can stack for greater effect so there's a lot of customisation. Later in the game, this fact is enhanced when your introduced to set bonuses that grant unique special skills if you wear like say, 3 armor parts of a certain monster. Like wearing an urragaan set will allow you to block previously unblockable attacks. High rank introduces Alpha and beta classed armours. Alpha armor pieces granting more skill points right from the get go, but not having many places to put in decorations which further grant skill points. And Beta doesn't have as many skill points, but they have better decoration slots. There's a lot you can do to make your hunter fit for a task, you may find yourself even constantly switching between armour sets to do different things~.

This game quickly becomes pointless with no sense of adventure and is just about poaching beasts to create armor and weapons from the beasts. Another bad Jap game.

What i don´t understand is the progress in this game. Is this like an MMO where i become more and more powerful/rich? It doesn´t seem very rewarding.

I'm sort of stuck in what game to buy at the moment, while I am waiting for the release of battlefield 2018, i have been playing bf1 for ages and it has started to get a bit old. I also enjoy games such as Assassins creed and Darks souls, both of which i have played the latest game and i am wondering if this game 'monster hunter world' would be worth buying?

The combat isn’t for everyone, but mostly just cause it’s takes time to get proficient at. and cause the monsters are very reactive and can actually read your movements and move or attack accordingly. Very challenging, it feels like you’re in an epic and terrifying fight and I love it 👍🏼

I've played previous MH games and I found MHW to be alot of fun. It's really grindy though and after 150 hours of the game I've now lost interest in the game already and the new monster dlc doesn't really make me want to go back. 7 out of 10 for me.

I sucked a Monster Hunter I used to play Tri back on the Wii and never got very far but loved it, I was only 10 though and it was hard due to me going in like a barbarian and getting wrecked 3 seconds later. I eventually went back to PS2 and bought the First Monster Hunter and it was good but still I was 10 and it was hard. Now that Monster Hunter World is out I love it and I've grown to take the fighting more seriously. This game is so polished compared to any other and the movement is slick along with the combat (love my Insect Glaive). I totally recommend this game if you are looking for a challenge. 10/10

Ill be completely honest, I am a noob to the series. I heard about MH games, and it ends there, at hearing about them. I saw some vids coming by from MHW and never clicked on one. Then, this one fucker on youtube, an old Warframe youtuber, who did a lot of For Honor and now MHW made weapon tutorials, two weeks I was so damned bored with the games I had I decided to watch one of these weapon tutorials and boom. Next day I bought the digital edition. I am legit not joking. After that tutorial I watched another, and another until I was three hours further. I only have like 48 hours or so in the game, I reached High rank and did a couple of high rank hunts and expedition and god, I am so glad I bought this game. Like holy damn. I enjoy these hunts so much sure I admit after a while it might get a little stale but then I either pick up a new weapon or play another game for a little bit before I load MHW back up. I even started to watch some lore videos, from a franchise I had no interest in for literally years

In the case of monster hunter world. This video should be titled: MHWorld after you buy Because this game is too good, and the more player, the better it becomes.

As a newcomer to the Monster Hunter franchise, MHW is a very good game with a lot of problems from what I've experienced and still am experiencing. A lot of problems both game play wise and story, but don't get me wrong, I'm still very much enjoying the game. My current and personal rating is at 8.5/10. My biggest issue with the story is the beginning. After creating your character and Palico, your see a stranger who is without a doubt a Handler who's by herself, and she's friendly and energetic. That's fine, I'm all for it. But then comes Zorah rising from the water, lifting the boat, and throwing people off as it tilts back. Your Palico and the Handler are dangling, and assuming your P-A-L-ico has been with you for some time, as your field partner I thought you'd reach out to him. No. You just watch him fall. He's close to you, but you just watch him fall. Now the Handler is losing her grip and you reach out to her and she's even farther from you. I guess this explains why your Palico hugs the Handler when you meet up instead of you. I suppose the Handler and the Palico are actually friends and you're actually the complete stranger in this whole situation. Perhaps a more selective and interactive beginning before Zorah came out would've been more fitting. Such as letting you walk around a bit to learn the controls before you talk with the Handler which then triggers a cutscene? Maybe some more interactions of getting to know your Handler by spending at least a day on the ship together. My issue with the combat is the lack of controlled direction while you attack. True, there are other games where if you attack in a direction you're committing to attacking in that direction, and yes, I'm aware this is a gameplay mechanic, but this seems more suited for big and flashy attacks rather than standard hits and combos. The only weapon I've seen to actually give some freedom to movement while attacking is the dual blades, which unfortunately are not my weapon choice. That I have to completely stop my attack to turn less than 45 degrees right to start a whole new attack seems very stiff. This game has lot of elements from other games, one being Dragon's Dogma which I find to be a fantastic and rare game that has one of the best gameplay mechanics I've ever played. MHW's lock on mechanic I'd say is poor. There are settings for this, but even still. A gameplay mechanic that I think was missed is dealing with your grappling hook. While you use your grappling hook climb up terrain quicker in small bursts, pull yourself back onto monsters who've knocked you off their backs, and to swing between Wedge Beetles. I think you should be able to free-fire your hook. Imagine chasing a flying enemy who flees to their perch up high, so now you have climb up some vines, or if you time it right you can hook onto the monster midair to climb them. I've seen how far the hook can fire to a Wedge Beetle, so I know it would be more convenient to use for climbing and movement, or should've even been the main way to mount monsters instead. Because having well-timed jump attacks that obliviously have you go through the monster rather than jump on its back about 2/3 of the time is confusing, Does the monster have specific spots you have to hit? Or maybe it's based on chance which is pretty lame seeing as you even took the time and effort to perform your jump attack. The grappling hook is highly signified in this game, yet it has very limited functions which both conflict with what it actually does versus what it could do, or what it even does sometimes in cutscenes that you cannot do. Monster Hunter World, a very good game with a lot of problems, but I'm still playing it. Thank you, Nergigante, for teaching me how to dodge.

I have this on Xbox one, and I’ve experienced all of the Mh games on 3ds and wii. I’ve only put it 6 hrs, and the pace is REALLY slow. But you have to realize that’s with all of the MH games. Don’t be discouraged from the start. Once you get going you literally get hooked. Right now the online isn’t so hot, and that’s what i spend most of my time on. Just keep playing even if it’s rough, it’s worth it

Combat is not clunky, it's realistic. You feel the weight of a weapon with every swing. So strategizing your attacks really makes a difference. Also being prepared makes a world of difference between a 40 minute hunt to a 10 minute hunt. Playing with friends makes the monster harder but it's more fun.

I did not like the fact that monster hunter 3 you had to run one big round round the map to home just to save the game and the weapon is so slow and had to remember so many sequence by memory in order to activate the special power. I think it looks nice initially but it is not easy to play and also I could not conmect with other players on nintento ds xl. It seems no other players was on the server or playing that game.

I just want to know. Is it a grind game That goes forever? I like a challange but a very slow paced game whit zero or low story sounds really boring to me. ( feels kinds pointles to ME if i play) want to try out but its to expensive to just try it out. Any negative tips here? ( most youtubers say only how good it is. But i only see u kil beast and the hub in the game)I know it looks good and u have gear to grind. Co op looks fun but. i just dont know feels like if u play 25% of it u kinda see and know what the 75% wil be like and further on. And ur gear Will be the only thing u care about like playing a mmo. Anyways i wil look further for honest opinions.

I was looking forward to this, but the controls have put me right off. Some of the absolute worst combat I've ever experienced. The game can't seem to keep up with my hand speed, and with no decent targeting system I find my character swinging in the wrong direction half of the time, unable to turn around when I want them to. Infuriated, and disappointed.

Bought it, put about 10 hours into it. Lots that need work. Especially for a modern console game. I’ve never played a MH game before this one, and it definitely isn’t the challenge aspect of it that turned me off. While a friend told me, this is how MH games are supposed to be, I feel Capcom fell flat trying to pick up as many new fans that they could have. Really, had they added dialogue, that would have been enough. But between poor/nonexistent speaking sections, forcing a player to trump through the “campaign” just to be able to play with friends is a loss. The game is beautiful, smooth (aside from being able to walk through a monster, but they all have their quirks), and pretty well explained. But this is just a grind game. Lather, rinse, repeat. Idk, maybe I just didn’t give it enough time.

I just bought the game this week and I have a few things to say about it the combat is very weird & clunky to get used to but that being said getting good hits and using your badass weapon it's pretty great. The grind is addicting and I find myself playing longer than I thought I would every session. Playing w friends is very fun and if your friends have it and you're ify you should grab this game.

Its a beautiful game, to look at and to play. MHW they have streamlined everything from the previous games, improved on things, simplfied things to a extent certainly, but they have still kept that level of challenge. I luv chasing after the monster just swinging from vines, sliding down slopes and jumping you can just move really fast and the gameplay is nice and smooth. The monster hunter games hav always felt abit cult, or had like a small following in the west, but now i feel they will really be opened up with World. Theres a small chance of it happening, but id rather Capcom just release expansions, adding nw stories and areas and monsters to fight in the future, i dont see how they really need to do a Monter Hunter World 2 now.

I'm already on the fence with the game 40 hours in and I just don't care for the gameplay mechanics. FF15, Dark Souls1-3, Dragon Age, Elder Scrolls and a few other games seem to do it alot better overall while still offering challenges with incredible open world exploration, character customization, actual skill increases/versatility, bigger inventorys/better companion systems and great vibrant storylines. This game has little to offer other than the satisfaction of killing a monster that gets you gear you're gonna toss out not much later for something slightly better and online connectivity is far from clear. At best, this game is exceptionally visually appealing, collecting resources can be fun and hunting monsters is most certainly fun with challenging gameplay.but it feels like a few steps down from what I've played before and that's why I can't bring myself to play it too much longer.
